Rerouting a campus dining supply chain
Senior capstone · Team of 4
Modelled delivery routes and inventory for 11 campus dining halls using
two years of purchasing data. Our recommendation cut projected food
waste by 12 percent, and dining services piloted it in two locations
this spring.
Outcome
Piloted in two dining halls this spring. Dining services are deciding
on a full rollout in the autumn.

What actually predicts a late shipment
Independent project
Pulled 40,000 public freight records and tested which variables really
predict a delay. Weather mattered far less than anyone assumes; carrier
handoff count mattered far more. Wrote it up so a non-analyst could
follow the argument.
Outcome
Wrote it up as a short public piece. A logistics manager I had never
met emailed to argue with the weather finding, which is the best thing
that has happened to any project I have done.

Analyst · Student consultancy
Built the reporting dashboard a local manufacturing client still uses
to track order throughput. The brief was one report. What they needed
was to stop asking for the report, so I built the thing that answers it.
Outcome
Still in daily use eight months after the engagement ended, which was
not part of the brief.

A word from my internship manager
Because at this stage, someone else saying it counts for more.
We gave Priya a cleaning task and she came back with the reason the data
was dirty in the first place. She then fixed it upstream. Interns do not
usually do that. Neither do some analysts.
Skills, with context
A list of tool names does not tell you what I can actually do with them.
SQL
Comfortable with joins, window functions and CTEs on tables in the millions of rows. This is the one I reach for first.
Python
pandas and scikit-learn for analysis. I write it to be read by the next person, not to be clever.
Tableau & Power BI
Built dashboards that non-analysts use unsupervised, which turns out to be a design problem more than a tooling one.
Optimisation
Linear and integer programming for routing and inventory. Coursework plus the capstone, not production experience yet.
